The stamp allows for an increased recognition of one\u2019s competencies at the international level. There is no charge for the stamp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to apply for an ISIA recognition, the CASI member must have a minimum number of 320 hours* of training and education, is required to reach the ISIA minimum standard, including the following three mandatory programs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>CASI Level 3 certification<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avalanche Skills Training (AST)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>First Aid Certification (from a recognized organization such as Red Cross, St.John Ambulance, etc)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-x-small-font-size\">*The hours of training to make up for 320 hours of education must be completed through CASI, or one of the following organizations: CSCF, CSIA, CSGA, CADS, CSCP or CANSI. But it is advised that you become a CASI Affiliate member so you are covered under our insurance policy while teaching and free riding. Visit the Government of Canada site <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cic.gc.ca\/english\/information\/applications\/work.asp\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"http:\/\/www.cic.gc.ca\/english\/information\/applications\/work.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a> for more information regarding work visas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To retain their Affiliate membership status, annual dues must be paid. This designation does not imply any CASI level of certification however membership benefits do apply.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>If I want to become a CASI Instructor do I get any credit for my other certification(s)?<\/summary>\n<p>International instructors (members of ISIA-recognized countries) wishing to become CASI certified must become a <a href=\"https:\/\/members.casi-acms.com\/documents\/2025-26%20Affiliate%20Letter_Fom_EN.pdf.pdf\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/casi-acms.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Foreign-Affliate-Letter-and-Form.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CASI Affiliate member<\/a> first, and pay the Affiliate member fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you are an Affiliate Member, you may <a href=\"https:\/\/form.jotform.com\/242844472225255\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">apply for recognition of previous certification<\/a>, which will provide you with a starting point in the CASI certification system. Once approved, you will be notified of the appropriate entry point into the CASI certification system (Level 1, 2 or 3) and will be permitted to register for a CASI instructor course. Course fees are additional. Prior to enrolling in a CASI course, you will also be required to complete the yearly Member Online Update workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note &#8211; in general, you will be permitted to start in the CASI system by completing the course at the same level that you currently hold (or equivalent). The exception to this is Level 1 certified instructors, who are typically allowed to bypass the CASI Level 1 course. IE: In order to become a regular CASI member, you will first need to successfully complete a CASI certification course at your appropriate starting point.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>I have my Level 2 Instructor&#8217;s rating from another country. Does CASI offer any equivalency for that?<\/summary>\n<p>No. Please see previous answer above.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>I am a CASI Affiliate member and will be working as an instructor for a ski school in Canada. Should I injure myself while teaching, what coverage am I entitled to?<\/summary>\n<p>Although Affiliate members are covered under WCB by their Snow School\/Resort, CASI&#8217;s disability insurance coverage is limited to death and dismemberment indemnity, the principal sum being $25,000.00. The disability coverage is only for members who are registered under a Canadian provincial Medicare program. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you purchase accident insurance coverage prior to travelling to Canada.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>I&#8217;m a PESG Instructor (all Levels). How can I become a CASI Instructor?<\/summary>\n<p>Any PESG Instructors wishing to become CASI members must first <a href=\"https:\/\/form.jotform.com\/253295650129258\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/form.jotform.com\/253295650129258\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">complete this form<\/a> and provide proof of their PESG certification to receive a starting point in the\u00a0CASI system. Once you receive your member number by email\u2014pay your annual\u00a0CASI membership fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is also advised to review the CASI Reference Guide (available in your member profile resources) and complete the mandatory annual Online Update and to be fully certified.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>How do I find a snowboard instructing job in Canada?<\/summary>\n<p>Check out this website under \u201cJobs\u201d for job postings by region or pick out a resort in the &#8220;Snow School Directory&#8221; where you would like to work, and contact them directly.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>I am a certified CASI instructor. Can I work in Europe or South America?<\/summary>\n<p>Although CASI certification is internationally-recognized, it is the resort or the snow school that decides whether or not to hire you. We advise you to contact the ski resort or school where you want to work and get hired before applying for a work visa and booking your plane tickets.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>I&#8217;m trying to find the best Instructor Training Program in Canada\u2026 what kind of things should I be looking for?<\/summary>\n<p>There are many programs (GAP programs) in Canada offering multi-week instructor training programs. CASI recommends that you inquire about the following details:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Do they employ current CASI Evaluators as trainers?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do they offer any type of teaching experience, lesson shadowing, or work experience prior to taking the Level 2?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What is the training time between Level 1 and 2?
